André Freire, 27, 1m77, and a phys ed teacher, won the 2011 Novo Homem
Men's Health (Portugal) competition on November 24. 400 men entered the competition, then the field was cut 15 semifinalists. These 15 men competed live before a celebrity jury at a Lisbon nightclub. From these 15, a final top five was selected, with André emerging as the winner. Tierry Vilson, Mauro Lopes, Bruno Nunes, and Francisco Macau rounded out the top five.
