THANKS, BUT NO THANKS

Our beloved librarian left us a note under our door and then we heard a thud! Note from Lorraine. It said, "Boys, I was doing my hair with spoolies and one of them rolled on the floor. It ended up under a book shelf. I bent down to pick it up and saw this old cigar box labelled, "Rare photos."Thought you'd be interested. Knock yourselves out." Luv Ya, Lorraine. The thud we had heard was indeed the cigar box of photos. We opened the first envelope and found this rare photo. It a photo of a lovely lady who was offered the job of Miss USA and declined. You see it was 1967. Sylvia Hitchcock had been crowned Miss USA, but shortly after, she was crowned Miss Universe. So her first runner-up Susan Brafley (or Bradley in some circles) of California was offered the Miss USA title. She said no, so the title passed on to the second runner-up Cheryl Patton of Florida. Kind of like the domino effect.
