SONIA MENON - Miss Malaysia Universe 2009 Finalist

Miss Malaysia Universe 2009 beauty pageant will be held 30 May in The Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur. New beauty queen will be complete in 2009 Miss Universe pageant.

Miss Universe 2009 , the 58th Beauty Universe Pageant, will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23, 2009. Dayana Mendoza , from Venezuela, winner of Miss Universe 2008 , will crown her successor in the event.

Sonia Menon, 22, from Penang holds a Diploma in Fashion and Retail Design from LimKokWing University, Cyberjaya.

The middle child in a family of three girls, Sonia enjoys reading, sketching, sewing clothes, dancing, playing the piano and pop drums. Fluent in English and Malay, she is currently learning to speak French.

Her father, Jayaram Menon is a retired industrial engineering manager who is now an actor and director of plays, an avid treasure hunter and chairperson of MENSA, Penang. Her mother, Dr.Gita Nayar is a doctor.

Sonia has also done some freelance modelling and supports the charity work of the North Malaysia Malayali Samajam and other charitable organizations such as old folks and less privileged children’s homes.

She was Miss Pesta Pulau Pinang 2008, walking away with the subsidiary titles of Best Personality and Best Catwalk.
