This morning in the faculty and staff lounge, Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni were munching on prune hamantaschen and discussing today's Miss Israel contest. Who will the winner be? Will we have another Israeli Miss Universe or Miss World this year? Our Jewish students will know that there are two reasons to celebrate today - Miss Israel 2012 and Purim! It is no coincidence that there was hamantaschen in the lounge today. Madge, our cafeteria lady, is Jewish (Ashkenazi) on her mother's side, and the BS cafeteria will be serving several varities of hamantaschen today - prune, poppy-seed, and apricot. Speaking of Purim, we have to mention Esther! There will be a special screening of "Capitulo 1" of the Brazilian telenovela
"A Historia de Ester" at Cafe Zulu today at 4:00pm. The telenovela aired a few years ago and starred the beautiful Gabriela Durlo as Queen Esther and the the hunky Marcos Pitombo as King Assuero.
