BROADWAY BABIES-THE FINAL INSTALLMENT

For the last couple of days, we've been featuring beauty queens who made it to Broadway in honor of the Tony Awards ceremony to be held tonight in New York City. We had Mary Ann, Dorothy, Kate, and Vanessa. All former Miss Americas. We left you with the question of whether a Miss Universe ever made it to Broadway. Well, the answer is yes, kinda, sort of, maybe. The lady who has the distinction of being on Broadway did not play a role, sing or dance, nor had any lines to memorize. Instead she just showed up, put on a swimsuit, then an evening gown, and left with a great big tiara. Oh, and of course the title of Miss Universe 1981. We speak of Irene Saez Conde of Venezuela who was crowned on the stage of the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. The only Miss Universe to grace the boards on the Great White Way.
